The Opportunity

The advisor will work directly with GCA's Founder and Head of School. The engagement will begin as flexible, part-time consulting, with scope and schedule evolving according to program needs and the advisor's expertise and availability. As the program launches and grows, the opportunity may develop into a full-time high school leadership role for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on development and launch of GCA's high school program.
• Evaluate academic, operational, regulatory, staffing, financial, and student-support readiness.
• Identify gaps, risks, priorities, and critical launch decisions.
• Guide the academic model, course offerings, graduation pathways, student experience, master schedule, and staffing model.
• Review Ohio graduation, credit, testing, transcript, records, and diploma requirements.
• Establish practical systems for attendance, grading, credits, transcripts, course documentation, transfer-credit review, and graduation tracking.
• Advise on services for students with IEPs and students using applicable Ohio scholarship programs.
• Integrate career exploration, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, technology, workforce development, dual enrollment, and other real-world learning.
• Assess facility, technology, transportation, safety, food-service, curriculum, assessment, and student-information needs.
• Contribute to startup budgeting, implementation planning, and sustainable growth.

Initial Areas of Focus

• Launch-readiness assessment and gap/risk analysis
• Recommended academic and staffing model
• Preliminary course framework and master schedule
• Compliance, student-records, graduation, and credit-tracking procedures
• Admissions and transcript-review procedures
• Preliminary startup and operating budget
• Phased implementation plan with clear priorities and decision points

Preferred Qualifications

• Meaningful experience in high school administration, counseling, curriculum, program development, or school operations
• Working knowledge of Ohio high school graduation, credit, testing, transcript, and student-record requirements
• Experience with course schedules, transcript review, credit awards, or graduation monitoring
• Experience supporting students with IEPs and diverse academic needs
• Strong strategic judgment, organization, discretion, written communication, and follow-through
• A collaborative, solutions-oriented, entrepreneurial approach

Experience launching or strengthening a high school, career-technical program, workforce initiative, microschool, alternative program, or innovative learning model is especially valuable.

• Flexible, part-time independent-contractor engagement initially
• Hybrid work: remote planning with periodic on-campus collaboration
• Scope, schedule, project phases, and compensation mutually agreed
• Potential transition to full-time leadership based on organizational needs, sustainability, performance, and mutual fit

Position Overview

This is a flexible, part-time opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants meaningful, varied work in a small-school environment. The associate will help students succeed, assist teachers and classrooms, support enrichment activities and staff coverage, and provide light administrative assistance as needed.

What You May Do

• Support students individually or in small groups with learning, organization, and participation.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities, projects, preparation, and transitions.
• Help supervise arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other parts of the school day.
• Support enrichment experiences, clubs, special projects, events, and real-world learning activities.
• Provide flexible coverage when a team member is briefly unavailable.
• Help prepare materials, organize learning spaces, and maintain a welcoming, orderly environment.
• Assist with light administrative tasks such as copying, organizing records, scheduling support, family materials, and event preparation.
• Notice what needs attention, communicate clearly, and follow through reliably.

• Comfortable working with students of different ages and learning needs
• Strong communication, organization, initiative, and judgment
• Willing to help with both student-facing and behind-the-scenes work
• Able to collaborate in a dynamic, small-school environment
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree is a plus
• Experience with children, schools, camps, tutoring, coaching, youth programs, customer service, or administrative support is preferred

A teaching license is not required. College students, recent graduates, career changers, retirees, and experienced school-support professionals are welcome to apply.
